Microsoft Exchange 2010 on Dell Systems: Simple Distributed Configurations

This reference architecture utilizes the Multi-role server and storage ―bricks‖ with internal and

external storage. It has been sized to provide mailbox sizes of up to 4GB each. The Mailbox IO profile

is sized for up to 150 messages per mailbox per day with 20% IO headroom to accommodate up to 0.18

IOPs per mailbox. This solution is suitable for requirements of medium to large organizations which

need larger number of mailboxes with larger mailbox size. This solution delivers high availability using

Exchange 2010 mailbox resiliency with a three copy Database Availability Group (DAG). One active and

one passive database copies reside on the same site & one passive database copy resides on the remote

site, so this solution offers site-level resiliency.
